The SW Committee CCA welcomes Yulia Llina from the Denton Dance Conservatory. Yulia comes from the Kiev Ballet School in Kiev, Ukraine. After graduating with honors in 1999, Ms. Llina danced as a soloist with the St. Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theatre under Boris Eifmann, and then the St. Petersburg State Ballet Theatre under L. Jacobson. In 2010, Ms. Llina was awarded a diploma of recognition from the St. Petersburg Committee of Culture for the preservation of the best traditions and creative contribution to the development of Russian ballet. She has danced leading roles in “Giselle,” “Swan Lake,” “Carmen,” “Romeo and Juliet,” “The Nutcracker,” and other more contemporary works. Throughout her dance career, Ms. Llina performed extensively touring Europe, the United States, Canada, South America, and Asia. She has contributed immensely to the Denton dance community and we look forward to having her join us!
The SW Committee CCA is offering two Teacher Scholarships for members in good standing to attend the Teacher’s Summer Seminar in Michigan, July 13-19, 2014. Members who have passed Grades I-IV are eligible to apply for a $250.00 scholarship and members who have passed Elementary-Diploma are eligible to apply for a $500.00 scholarship. Deadline for scholarship submission is March 22, 2014. Notification of award will be April 1. The SW Committee must know if the teacher will be attending the Summer Seminar by April 15. Karla Harris is the former Owner/Director of Northbrook Dance Centre and Artistic Director of Ballet Theatre North, a regional ballet performing company. She danced in NYC with the Radio City Rockettes after graduating with a BA in foreign language from Millikin University. She holds her Advanced Teacher’s Certification with the CCA and is a Permanent Examiner and Liaison Officer.
Ms. Harris teaches ballet, pointe and the Cecchetti syllabus work throughout the Chicagoland area, as well as guest teaches at the CCA International Summer School at Hope College in Holland, Michigan.
